Mumbai - Kathmandu


Day 01: Mumbai – Kathmandu

Board a morning flight from Mumbai to Kathmandu;

Flight Details:          Nepal Airways (RA-202)          @ 1725 Hrs – 2010 Hrs

Arrival transfer in Kathmandu and then proceed for the check-in at the hotel there.

Rest of the evening is at leisure.

Overnight stay is at any hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu

Breakfast is at the hotel.

Today you will visit: Swayambhunath Stupa, (also known as the Monkey Temple), adorned with fluttering of prayer flags, it overlooks the Kathmandu Valley. There is an observation platform from where you get great views of the City. It is believed from inscriptions found in the Temple that it was established more than 2,000 years ago. Swayambhunath has been a very important Buddhist Centre since the 13th Century, and for certain one of the holiest Buddhist Shrines in the World.

Kathmandu Durbar Square, Located in the heart of Kathmandu City, all coronations of the Royal Family were held here. The Palace is a fusion of eastern and western architecture added by all the rulers that have occupied it over the centuries. The Palace is divided in two courtyards that house many holy Temples like Hanuman Dhoka, Paravati, Bhairav, and Taleju. Some floors are now converted in to Museums.

Pashupatinath: Pashupatinath is the temple of Lord Shiva and is considered one of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world. The two-tiered pagoda with golden roofs and silver doors houses the sacred linga, or phallic symbol, of Lord Shiva. (Non-Hindus are not allowed inside temple).

Boudhnath Stupa: The stupa of Boudhnath lays 08 Kms east of Kathmandu. It is the biggest Stupa in Nepal and is located on flat land and encircled by houses & monasteries where Rinpoches reside. This colossal Stupa is set on concentric ascending terraces in the powerful pattern of a Mandala. Around the base of this strikingly enormous and simple stupa is a ring of 108 images of the Buddha & 147 insets containing prayer wheels.

Optional tour at an extra cost: Early morning, Mountain Flight, This tour offers the closest possible aerial views of Mount Everest, Kanchanjunga and the Tibetan Plateau. The 45-minute flight offers an incredible panorama, and you can take a photograph of the world's highest mountain from the cockpit.

Day 03: Kathmandu

Breakfast is at the hotel.

This morning visit: Bhaktapur Durbar Square, located in City the Centre of Bhaktapur, its architecture is from the Malla period, a pleasure to walk since is off limits to car traffic, here you find many great examples of Medieval Nepalese arts like: The Golden Gate, the giant stone statue of King Mhupatindra Malla, and the Fifty five window Palace dating back to 1427. Bhaktapur is a World Heritage Site.

Patan: The city is proud of its temples and artisans and the largest display of Newari architecture in Nepal. One remarkable monument here is a 17th century temple dedicated to the Hindu God Krishna. The other monument one will be visiting would be Kumari Temple, Golden Temple, Rudra Varna Mahabihar, Machhendra Bahal, Kumbeshwor Temple, Taleju Temple, Taleju Bell etc.

Kumari House Temple: Located in Durbar Square is a greatly decorated house with splendid intricate carvings. Kathmandu's Royal Kumari (living Goddess of Kumari) resides at this Temple.

Patan Durbar Square: located in the heart of Patan City this UNESCO World heritage Site. It was once the Palace of the Kings of Patan, a great example of Newari architecture. The Palace has three main courtyards and many temples built in different styles. Some of them are: The Krishna Temple a masterpiece built of stone, the Golden Temple of Hiranya Varna Mahavira, and Tusha Hiti.

Optional tour at an extra cost: Nepalese dinner with cultural show at Bhojan Griha, Taste authentic organic Nepalese food. Enjoy local folk dances and songs. Fascinating Nepalese cultural décor and artifacts bring past and present alive.

Day 04: Kathmandu – Mumbai

Breakfast is at the hotel.

Later on transfer to Kathmandu international airport to board the flight to Mumbai;

Arrival transfer in Mumbai from airport to the hotel; tour ends here…
